Logistics Manager wanted at What On Earth

What On Earth is a fun-loving organic food manufacturer and supplier and we are currently seeking a confident and experienced Logistics Manager to come and work with us. We have two sites – one in London and one in Somerset – but this role will be based in London.

About the role:

We are looking for someone with plenty of experience driving in London and an excellent grasp of the highway code. The role involves:
  • Overseeing the supply chain cycle and organising deliveries
  • Overseeing stock takes, stock checks and internal stock audit
  • Line managing 11 members of staff across a double shift operation

You will be in charge of:
  • Monitoring and maintaining all logistics related KPIs
  • Creating and monitoring department staff rotas; task lists; logs
  • Department training and setting of benchmarks and standards for staff
  • Departmental cost management
  • Departmental waste management
  • Management of Sage stock aspect

The role attracts a salary of £23K annually, negotiable after completing a three month probation period. It is offered on a full-time basis (40 hours a week) with two days off a week.

To be considered for this role ideally you will have a track record of working within leading warehouse operations. Other essential qualifications & knowledge we are looking for include:
  • UK/EU driver’s licence and have the right to work in the UK
  • Have at least 12 months' experience as logistics supervisor or similar or suitable experience
  • Forklift licence – essential
  • Experience in Sage50 will be an advantage
  • Good leadership and problem solving skills

Searching for more kitchen superstars

We're growing fast so we need to get recruiting again.  This time we have two posts available, both of which will involve working in our 'SALSA' certified production kitchen where we hand make a huge range of organic products for retail and wholesale.  The positions are night kitchen assistant and night kitchen team leader.  If you're a whizz in the kitchen and have experience to prove it then please read on.  You could be who we are looking for.

Night kitchen assistant

Working hours: 40 hours a week/5 shifts

Responsibilities
  • Produce breakfast foods and other bakery products, such as chilled and frozen pizzas, quiches and filo pastry wraps
  • General kitchen duties, including washing up and cleaning of the kitchen and equipment (to include all work surfaces floors and walls)
  • Follow “SALSA”, health & safety and food safety procedures

Requirements:
  • Must have experience of working in a kitchen environment and have basic knowledge of food preparation and hygiene 
  • Team participation and good working relations with staff are essential 
  • Good spoken English

Night kitchen team leader

Working hours:  40 hours a week/5 shifts

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate production and packing process of breakfast foods and other bakery products, such as chilled and frozen pizzas, quiches and filo pastry wraps
  • Ensure all food cooked is of high quality and that portion control is maintained
  • Make sure 'SALSA', health & safety and food safety procedures are followed
  • Check the stock levels of manufactured products and adjust them when necessary

Requirements:
  • Experience in leading a small team would be an advantage
  • Must have experience of working in the food manufacturing industry or have a catering background
  • Team participation and good working relations with staff are essential
  • Fluent in English

Wanted: one kitchen assistant

What On Earth is recruiting and you could be the answer.  If you're handy in the kitchen, have a passion for food and are hungry to work in the organic food industry then look no further.

We are looking for a friendly, personable and hard working kitchen assistant to help us with our food production.  You will be based in the What On Earth kitchen five days a week and will help with the production of both our retail and food service products.  You will be expected to assist the kitchen staff and carry out a wide range of kitchen duties.  Examples of main tasks include:

  • preparing fresh vegetables for roasting
  • roasting and packing products
  • preparing and packing muesli and granola
  • preparing chilled or frozen pizzas 
  • other kitchen duties


You can help us prepare our renowned organic pizzas


Training will be given but kitchen experience is an advantage.  Pay is £6.50 p/h.

Working hours may vary but the regular shifts will be:

Monday, Wednesday and Friday - 09.30 to 17.30
Saturday and Sunday - 06.30 to 14.30

Night Logistics/Warehouse Assistant Manager

Pay: £19,500 per annum

Description:
What On Earth is a rapidly growing organic manufacturing/wholesale/distribution company based in central London. We operate 24/7 and are looking for a Night Logistics/Warehouse Assistant Manager to join our team.

The role is very hands on and will involve multi-drop deliveries as well as the supervision of picking and delivery staff at base. The hours are 11pm – 7am, Thursday to Monday, including weekends.

The main activities are to coordinate, control and monitor the warehouse and transport night operations, according to company needs. You will act as a first point of contact to night drivers and warehouse operatives.

Personal attributes:
You need to be an independent individual who can work under pressure. You must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in different situations. Cultural awareness and the ability to work in different cultural environments are also required.

Experience in warehouse and distribution is essential, as is having a forklift licence and ECC/UK clean driving licence. Having knowledge of good warehousing practice and topography of London is advantageous.

This is a position for an established supervisor who wants to progress and earn ranks within warehousing and distribution. We are looking for a hard working, responsible genius that does not mind working nights and weekends.

Office Manager

Pay: £18,000 per annum, reviewed after a three month probationary period.

Description:
This is customer service role, so great interpersonal skills and customer focus is a must. You would be responsible for:
  • Taking and processing orders from customers
  • Solving customer issues
  • Credit control (cooperation with Bookkeeper)
  • Issuing invoices, credit notes
  • Producing picking sheets
  • Liaising with other departments regarding customer queries, stock availability, lead times
  • General filing and administrative jobs
  • Assisting the Finance director
Note: You have a big chance of getting the job if you quote word "Orange" during your interview - that means you read this advert properly!

Personal attributes:
We are ideally seeking somebody who is used to working for a customer driven business and who has knowledge/experience of SAGE 50. You must be able to multitask and should enjoy working in a fast paced environment.
